What should you look for in a moisturizer and how do you
choose?
First, you want to use a moisturizer that feels good on the
skin. This is determined by the emollients used in the product. You want to
make sure it doesn’t break you out. It also needs to hydrate in the correct
amount, not to much or not enough. You might also need to change your
moisturizer as your hormones may change, or if you are in a different climate.
The thing you should ALWAYS look for are anti aging ingredients in effective
concentrations.
ANTI-AGING INGREDIENTS
*Anti-oxidants are ingredients that help block collagen
breakdown and help nourish the skin. Vitamins are anti-oxidants and some of the
popular used in skin care include; vitamin C, Vitamin E, as well as several B
vitamins. Others you should look for are; Alpha Lipoic Acid, Resveratrol,
Coenzyme Q10 and tea extracts.
*Alpha-hydroxy acids are safe skin acids including Lactic
Acid, Glycolic Acid, and Pyruvic Acid. These acids have an exfoliating effect
on the outer layer of your epidermis
helping smooth your skin while the emollients hydrate the deep layers of your
epidermis.
*Peptides help to directly stimulate new collagen formations
and certain peptides, including Argireline, which can also have a mild muscle relaxing
effect on facial muscles.
