I posted a link at the bottom of the blog for a recent feature on Dr. Oz about CoolSculpting by Zeltiq. I agree with Dr. Oz's enthusiasm for the procedure and I really like the graphics in the segment - they illustrate the science behind CoolSculpting very effectively.

Open this Saturday

Due to popular demand, I will be in the office one Saturday each month for those who can't come in as easily on weekdays. We will be open this Saturday the 16th and offering all procedures including Botox and Zeltiq.

Who Needs a Photofacial?

I am often asked who are good candidates for photofacials. Since photofacial packages are on sale this month, it's a perfect time to review. Photofacials are the ideal laser treatment if you are mostly concerned about facial discoloration - especially discoloration from age or sun damage. Protect your Face this Summer

It looks like summer might finally be here, and so just a few reminders about facial sun protection. The sun is the #1 cause of wrinkles (and skin cancer too - but this is a cosmetic blog after all), and while Botox can help, prevention should always come first. Put sunscreen on every day no matter what (sun comes through your car window). Use at least 30 spf. Make sure you are protected against UVA and UVB. Wear a hat. And reapply if you are going to be outside for more than a few hours.

No More Water - please!!

We are relieved to announce that we will be open tomorrow June 9th for business after combating flood waters on Monday and cleaning up today. Thanks for your many emails of concern and well-wishes. Fortunately no water ever entered our building. Murray City pumped all the water out of the parking lot and surrounding areas last night and fixed the obstruction that contributed directly to the flooding - we don't anticipate anymore problems. Thanks to Tom Williamson and everyone at Chasebrook and Paragon who were on top of things all day long. Thanks to David Van Komen, Phillip Goold, and Ryan Johansen for your offers to come and help. Thanks to our staff for working much harder on Monday than we had anticipated (the Botox sale would have been crazy - but not nearly as hard.) And Thanks especially to Neil Middleton for spending his day Monday helping us move equipment upstairs and then sandbagging & constructing barriers. He really is a rock star (Royal Bliss).

Botoxathon this Friday to help cure blindness in Africa

Our office has once again been selected to represent Utah in the One World Sight Project's National Botoxathon. On Friday May 14th, participating doctor's from around the country and Allergan will donate proceeds from Botox injections that day to the Eyes of Africa Initiative of the One World Sight Project. This organization uses that money to pay for vision-restoring cataract surgery in Africa. Space is limited that day but there are still appointments available.

Juvederm XC for Lip Injections

Juvederm now has a new formulation called Juvederm XC. This new version of the popular filler has Lidocaine premixed with the Juvederm in each vial. I have been using it for lip augmentation injections over the past few months and my patients have definitely noticed a big reduction in discomfort. In fact, I rarely use a dental numbing block anymore.

Free Botox with Juvederm until the end of April

You may have noticed this "special" already at the top of the blog, but time is running out, so I wanted to bring it to everyone's attention again. Until the end of April, Allergan is giving away 10 free units of Botox when you receive a vial of Juvederm (a $100 value). Juvederm is one of my favorite dermal fillers and is great for lip augmentation, wrinkles above the lip, or other lines or depression around the mouth. Downtime is minimal and the effects are immediate. New M22 Laser Arrival Date

My new M22 Photofacial system still isn't here yet, but I have received assurance from Lumenis that I will have it by next Wednesday the 21st. For whatever reason, Lumenis decided to fill European orders first and those of us in the United States have been left waiting. But it will be worth the wait. It's a great treatment using the best photofacial technology available.
